With a busy stressful job and living in a polluted city like London, my skin can be left looking less than radiant. To combat this I regularly exfoliate and use a good face mask at home, but sometimes it's nice to treat it to a professional facial. Located at Urban Bliss salon in Notting Hill, Antonia Burrell offers a range of holistic treatments, including her tailored bespoke facial:

Like all good bespoke treatments, we had a quick chat about my concerns first followed by an in depth analysis of my skin. I'd always thought of my skin as combination dry but as it turns out it's actually more on the oily side, with dehydration being one of the issues that I suffer from - something I was rather pleased to hear as hopefully that'll mean the wrinkles will be kept at bay for a few more years.
The facial uses a combination of her own skincare as well as a key selection of other blends. Unlike some of the other spas I'd been to this was completely tailored to my skin, to the point where she change a treatment during the facial as my skin responded to each individual product. To start off with my skin was thoroughly cleansed, massaged and steamed. Facial massages have always been one of my favourite treats and combined with the thorough cleanse, it felt so luxurious and relaxing.
After this, she really got to work, using a metal extractor to tease out any blackheads. This was by far the most uncomfortable part of the facial, but afterwards looking at my skin wow were the results worth it! As my skin was feeling particularly decongested, another face mask was applied followed by her Forest dew skin conditioner, a second massage and finally some moisturiser, sunscreen and eye cream. The whole process took about an hour and afterwards my skin was left looking a little pink but so clear and radiant. I've struggled with blackheads for years and the extraction had made all the difference.
Overall I loved the results of my facial and since then I've also been trying out Antonia Burrell Forest dew skin conditioner at home. An alcohol free toner which reduces sebum production and calms inflammation as well as adding hydration where needed. I'm notoriously bad with toners and found the formula a little too rich during the summer, but come winter the extra hydration will be perfect and I've already got this on standby for my skin inevitably becomes more dehydrated and sensitive.
