Foundation help please

I've dabbled with foundations in the past, but they've always felt too heavy on my skin or took too much effort to apply, but this winter, I've become really fed up of that cakey look you can get with powder and I'd love to achieve a more even skin tone so have decided to give liquid foundations another go.

However I've no idea which ones are good, so I'd love to get a few recommendations from you girls.

My idea foundation would be:
- light to medium coverage
- slightly dewy, semi matte finish
- yellow toned
- and most importantly not heavy on the skin

From reading online reviews, I am tempted to try Lancome teinte miracle, so if you've used that or if there are any other foundations that you'd recommend then I'd be really grateful if you could leave me a comment and let me know.

Thank you in advance!

  1. I'd recommend trying MAC's new one, Pro Longwear. It's a light/medium coverage but it's buildable, and it lasts all day without looking at all cakey. I think it just make me look like me but better! I've never really been a fan of MAC foundations (love pretty much everything else though!) but this one is a winner. If you live near a MAC counter I'd recommend gettinga little sample to test.

  2. I really recommend Bourjois Healty Mix. It's really light on my skin and gives a healty look.

  3. i use a mineral foundation from Rock Face Minerals (Ireland based, but they sell online). They've got 29 shades (and am absolutely sure you will find the perfect shade for you, they also explain how to pick yours up) and it costs 13 pounds. It is light to medium coverage, it is very light on your skin and doesn't harm it either.
Here's the link, I hope it helps: http://www.rockfaceminerals.co.uk/category/Mineral_Foundation,i.html

  4. Try Body Shop Moisture Foundation or Body shop oil free foundation depending on your skin type. I like Bourjois healthy mix as well

  5. I would go with Bobbi Brown Natural Finish foundation! It's very light, and gives a natural finish (not matte or shiny, but in-between). Bobbi has an amazing shade range, everything is yellow-toned. You could also check out the Bobbi Brown Skin foundation as well (this is dewy and almost undetactable on the skin - though has a light coverage).

  8. I'm looking for decent foundation too, I have a Bobbi Brown stick that I wear for going out but it's too heavy for day wear. I like the sound of the Bourjois Healthy Mix.

  9. MAC Face & Body and Bobbi Brown Skin should fit your requirements. For cheaper alternatives, Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect and Myface Mymix both have extraordinarily thin textures that blend easily into the skin. Both have a decent range of shades, and cost around the £10 mark.

  10. I would recommend MAC Face & Body. It can be as light as you like. Its great value for 120ml! I have the bobbi brown foundations too but I am not a fan of those. x

I would love to try Mac face & Body and also Bourjois Healthy Mix also :) let us know what you decide. What not pop into your local Lancome counter and ask for a sample Im sure they will pot one up for you xx

  12. I've heard wonderful things about the Bourjois healthy mix. I'd give it a go if i was you.

Surprisingly, I'm opting for more light coverage this winter, like tinted moisturiser and highlighter cream mixed in for a more liquid foundation mix.

  15. O.M.G, I haven't a clue why people are telling you to use MAC pro long wear or Revlon Colourstay from your checklist, as they are the complete opposite, if your starting to use liquid foundation again, there is no need to jump straight in the deep end with a pricey one, I only use liquid foundation from low - high end ones and my favourite EVERR!!! is the Bourjois healthy mix, (I always feel I need a lot of coverage but I don't want it to feel so heavy!) I cant explain what an amazing foundation is it, and to stay it feels such a light foundation the coverage is amazing!, xxx

  16. the lancome one is very nice, i always mixed mine w/ a moisturizer so that it wasn't so heavy & cakey. i do this w/ all my foundations. then just use concealer & a blending blush to cover up blemishes & such. mac studio sculpt is a nice one too, comes out in a tube & it's a gel like formula that's very easy to blend. hope this helps :)

  18. I'd reccomend MAC because they have a great range of colours, and the NC colour range is great for yellow toned skin (:
Or, the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser sounds really good, I haven't tried it though because I need more coverage. But with the sounds of it you don't need a lot of coverage so a tinted moisturiser could be for you, because it will still even out your skin tone (:

  19. I was on a lookout for foundation with somewhat the same criteria as yours...but since my skin is oily i couldnt go in for something which had a dewy finish. So i had to opt for oil free foundations. I love the dewy look so do it using makeup .

Incase u don't have oily skin...you can use clinique super moisture makeup or Chanel Vitalumiere.

    hope this helps

  21. Probably late to the party but I'd recommend Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser - light to medium coverage, dewy finish (well for me anyway!), seems to be yellow-toned, and I just hands down love the stuff. I am bereaved because I've left it at a friend's house and can't get a hold of it for another five weeks!! It's pricey but it has lasted me a couple of months so far - there's no need to pile on the stuff.

Ultimately I hope you pick something you feel comfortable in!

  22. I can recommend Dior Diorskin nude and Diorskin Forever.
Nude is a lighter coverage than Forever. I personally mix the two of them to get the perfect coverage whenever I need more.
They are a little pricey but they're totally worth it, imo.

  24. I know this is an older post, but Laura Mercier Silk Cream Foundation is amazing! I find it to have perfect coverage for me (I do not have acne), yet still on friends that do have lots of acne, however it's not thick, and your skin can breath.

I recommend at least giving it a shot one day.

  25. Andy Vicious - Thank you. I'm currently using Bourjois healthy mix and Lancome teint miracle, but will definitely give Laura Mercier a try when I run out x
